(p. 335 of paperback edition). I think they've each carried around a huge, unresolved drama for 10 years, with nobody else they can trust to fully understand it. They realize they've got each other to unravel the pain and talk to. I don't think romantic love is a necessary part of that equation, but again, I might be wrong.(less)
