I actually don't get writer's block, but I sometimes go racing down the wrong path and have to retrace my steps to write something better--ha ha! What I've heard from a lot of my friends is that you need to step away from the story and do something else--go for a walk, visit a museum, take a shower, exercise--to clear your head and return with fresh eyes.
