Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Dwight Ritter My most recent book is Growin' Up White. It's a coming-of-age story of a white boy growing up in a black neighborhood during the early 1950's. The idea has always been in my head since I was a white boy who grew up in a black neighborhood during the early civil rights explosions. Since then I have been actively involved in the civil rights movement in this country. . . have become very vocal and concerned with where we are going. I think my book captures this.
