(view spoiler)[What do you answer to people who say that Laurel behaviour is childish because she's worried and sad more about her boyfriend who leaves her than her sister's death? (Btw, I don't think so and I loved both her and the book) (hide spoiler)]

That's a good question Cecilia! I think everyone is entitled to their own feelings and criticisms about a book, but to answer your question about why I made that decision -- I think that because Laurel feels abandoned by her sister (and isn't quite able to deal with those feelings yet), the loss of her first love (which is certainly a heartbreaking thing on its own), is even more difficult for her. Grief works in strange ways, and is different for everyone who experiences it. For Laurel, losing Sky adds to the pain of losing her sister, which she hasn't yet fully processed. Only when she's begun to confront her true feelings, is she able to open up about them, to him and to others.

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. " The catcher in the rye. This quote made me think about you :) I loved this book very very much. Overall, are you satisfied with how the book ended up being?

Hi. One of the main reasons I read (and loved) your book was because I knew there was going to be a lot of Nirvana references. I wondered if Kurt was mentioned in there because you really like him, or if he had some kind of deeper impact in Laurel's story, or maybe if she just really liked him. Can you explain what kind of effect or benefit putting him in the story had, if there was any?
