Ava Dellaira That's a good question Cecilia! I think everyone is entitled to their own feelings and criticisms about a book, but to answer your question about why I made that decision -- I think that because Laurel feels abandoned by her sister (and isn't quite able to deal with those feelings yet), the loss of her first love (which is certainly a heartbreaking thing on its own), is even more difficult for her. Grief works in strange ways, and is different for everyone who experiences it. For Laurel, losing Sky adds to the pain of losing her sister, which she hasn't yet fully processed. Only when she's begun to confront her true feelings, is she able to open up about them, to him and to others.
