Can someone explain the ending w/r/t Konstance and the spacecraft? What was the point of the experiment, given that K was able to live on earth and have children? What happened to her father and the others on board? Did they know they were on earth the whole time, or were they tricked? And where were the people behind the spacecraft experiment? Surely they would have kept an eye on it? I feel like I missed a chapter!

At some point after its "launch" Ilium possibly dissolved or diminished as an entity, and/or climatic conditions caused an apocalyptic setback in society's functioning capacity.

Hence, there was no Ilium left to monitor the Argos experiment, and Konstance found her way to Qaanaaq, a village of people living in a more pre-industrial way. Speculation. (less)
