Goodreads asked Cynthia Austin:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Cynthia Austin Well, I like to write suspenseful horror/paranormal mysteries so I suppose I would incorporate a little Mexican Folklore into my real life mystery. There is an old story about my fathers mother being the landlord for a group of converted train boxcars for migrant farm workers. One tenant was known as a witch and when she did not pay rent and was evicted she cursed my grandmother and all of her children. Shortly after my Grandmother died of cervical cancer and all 12 children were placed into foster care where their lives were very grim. Years later, my Uncle told me the story believing they were all hexed. I think I could write a good book out of that bit of mystery.
