Is there any animal abuse?

Some animals meet a sad demise but actual animal death is more alluded to than described in "real time", with one (I think) exception of an animal death by a monster, and even that is dealt with swiftly. I suspected it was coming, so I just fast-forwarded the book 30 seconds (listened to it on Audible) and didn't have to listen to the actual monster/animal encounter. Animal abuse is usually a "no read" condition for me, but in no way did the animal situations diminish my ability to continue with or enjoy this story. (less)
