So...was this supposed to be a villain origin story? Or am I the only one who sees it that way? Zetian and Yizhi laugh after killing both of their fathers and becoming rulers of the world...After murdering several other people to get there. I...I don't understand the hype around this book. At all.

And tbf, both Yizhi and Zetian's dads were absolute monsters to their children and were willing to let them die(less)
