A Goodreads user asked Elizabeth Breck:

Hi, I just finished Anonymous and enjoyed it a lot. I liked that Madison name checks several of my favorite authors including Child, Grafton, Perry and Stout. Great work! Question - did you go through the brutal breast surgery that Madison has? If so, you certainly have my sympathy. Looking forward to having Double Take in my hands.

Elizabeth Breck Hi Owen,

Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, I did have breast cancer and I had the same surgery that Madison had. While there is often discussion of going through the cancer journey, I find sometimes there isn't mention of the aftermath: the part where you go on with your life, scars and all. I wanted it to be part of her story, as it is mine, without it *being* her story. As you know, the book isn't about that; it's just part of who she is: 5'11", scars, catches bad guys. And yes, the surgeries are brutal, as anyone who has done it can tell you. But then we pick ourselves up and get on with our lives, because women are tough as nails. ;)

Thanks again for reaching out, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the book! I think you'll really like "Double Take." And check out my website in case I'm doing an event in your area: elizabethbreck.com/events There will be new events added as they are scheduled.
