Jeanine asked Elizabeth Breck:

Hi, Maddie seems so lonely, really. I was wondering if she shouldn't get a pet?I was awake last night thinking about things I would like to see. I really liked your book. I wished I could meet her! I think it would be fun to see her be a bridesmaid for Haley. Now that would make her uncomfortable but could be a great learning experience. Keep writing....

Elizabeth Breck Hi Jeanine! That's a great idea. I have a dog, and he is my constant companion. The reason I didn't give Madison a dog is because as a reader, whenever there is a dog in the story, I spend the whole time worrying whether something is going to happen to the dog! And I worry that the main character is playing with it enough, not leaving it alone when she goes off to investigate things, etc. I am SUCH an animal lover that pets in stories can make me very nervous (especially since some authors love to put the pet in danger for dramatic reasons). Yes, Madison is alone a lot, but she is also a loner--she sort of likes it that way.

As to your other point, I think it would be hilarious if Haley asked her to be a bridesmaid! You're right, Madison would be so uncomfortable, but she would feel she had to do it in order to be a good friend. Maybe you'll see it in a future book, and then you can know it was your idea!

I'm glad you enjoyed the book, and I hope you like Double Take, Madison's next adventure, out 10/12/2021!
