How come Ada is 16 year old on 2010 if she was born in 2000?

I think this is part because, as the story progresses, the setting of that time stays the same, Rather than it saying early June, late August, etc. etc. it's presumed that the parts of story continue fairly chronologically, but we aren't paying too close attention to years that aren't written in history books (ink.. and winners); so we know dates of the war, but not necessarily the personal stuff.(less)
