Where did you get the idea for the first book, The Hidden King?

E.G. Radcliff The idea for the entire The Coming of Áed series came to me as--not to be cliché--a dream. I woke up very disoriented and tried to figure out what I should do with the memories of the dream that kept bumping around my head. Strangely, it laid out the places and the main characters; from it, I knew all about the Maze, the White City, Áed and his relationship with Ninian, and a thousand little details about everyone and everything... but the dream had no plot. It was far too tempting a gift to pass up, and so I decided to take what my brain had given me and play with it until I'd created something.
