E.G. Radcliff The idea for the entire The Coming of Áed series came to me as--not to be cliché--a dream. I woke up very disoriented and tried to figure out what I should do with the memories of the dream that kept bumping around my head. Strangely, it laid out the places and the main characters; from it, I knew all about the Maze, the White City, Áed and his relationship with Ninian, and a thousand little details about everyone and everything... but the dream had no plot. It was far too tempting a gift to pass up, and so I decided to take what my brain had given me and play with it until I'd created something.
E.G. Radcliff The Last Prince is an origin story to The Hidden King, and tells the story of Ninian. It occurs prior to The Hidden King in the timeline. So, some people prefer to read it first. Although other readers have been blown away by the emotional impact of reading The Hidden King first, in the order in which they were written.
The Wild Court is a true sequel, a continuation of the timeline of Áed's adventures, and what a wild ride it is! I'm pretty excited about it, and it's been very well received by readers.
E.G. Radcliff For me, writer's block happens when I'm not all that excited for the next events that I have planned in the story, so it gives me a good time to reflect and make sure that my plot is actually engaging enough. If I get stuck even though I'm excited, then I need to break away. In that case, I do a repetitive workout (like swimming lengths or running laps) that doesn't require much thought, I watch a good movie or read a really good book, and then I stay up foolishly late so that my brain dissolves its way past the block. It's also helpful for me to do research; there's motivation in the details, and rooting out tiny little things that I can add to my story helps get the wheels turning again.

More and more, I've found that when I have writer's block, I switch to drawing. When I'm drawing my characters, I'm contemplating many details about them and the story. It never fails to get me unstuck.
