I read The Sorcerer's Stone at age 6, and loved it, maybe that was because I read so much. I think it depends on your favorite books and general reading experience. What I mean is - if you haven't read any books that deal with death and violence, then this is something you should not yet read. It is amazing, though, and my favorite Harry Potter book.(less)
