Connie Clark I used to say match the age to the book but the teen years are hard to live through so reading about it too, may be too much. I suggested one student …moreI used to say match the age to the book but the teen years are hard to live through so reading about it too, may be too much. I suggested one student take a break for a year and then read one year behind his age. That worked well. However, many of my second grade students read the first book that year when they were 8 and loved it. Most people read them over again and understand more as they age.
