My babysitting…moreI guess my mother started reading them to me when I was six or seven and I was nine when the last book came out and read it right away. My babysitting kid was also nine when she finished the last book and she doesn't like things that are too scary. I guess looking back the books 5-7 seem pretty dark, but I know that as a kid they didn't seem that way to me and I had a pretty good filter and some of the scary parts only registered when I was older. I think that's part of the value of the books - they have something for every age group and the more you read them and the older you get, the more you see and learn and appreciate the different aspects :) I'd say: as early as your kid wants and just stop if it does get too scary and continue some later time.(less)
