Yes. Also the smell of the petrol in Sophie’s house is mentioned several times, which links to Liam’s activities in the epilogue

how does one burn a body in the tunnel? wouldn't the fumes choke him? i found this ridiculous. and if there's an opening then someone should have seen the smoke. it takes many hours to burn a dead body. i would know cause Im a hindu and we burn our dead. this is very inaccurate. Liam couldn't have just stood there for hours waiting for the body to burn totally

Let's back up a bit here, if the tunnel was under the cottage and Sophie could smell the result of Guy's body being burnt then surly the previous occupants would have smelt it decaying? You would imagine that would have been a hundred times worse and they would have had it investigated?

What kind of police find a body in a tunnel & don't follow it all the way to where it comes up on the other end (the cottage)? There might have still been evidence of Liam's crime?

I was confused to the time table of this. Liam said Scarlet contacted him two days prior to take care of things....did she mean Guy or did she mean Zack? I felt it didn't make sense. She would have had to contact him in September I thought, right before getting caught. That doesn't allow for the smell in August when Sophia moved in. If anyone can help me with this please let me know.

I had the same question. Had no idea that the tunnel led to their house.

Sophie mentions something when the twins come to visit about the weird smell... but she had just "gone nose-blind" if you will.

Yes. It ends under their cottage and he is hearing them when they first move in. The fuel odor she smells is from when he’d burned the body.
