All of the main character have their own growth and histories throughout the series and you learn more about them as you read each book.
So it's really up to you whether you want to get a lot out of the series. If you wanted you could begin with the first one and see how you like it, or wait for this one, read it and see how it feels to you and go back and read the rest.(less)
