Alka Joshi It’s so rewarding to hear this kind of comments from readers. I love these characters, the good and bad in them, as much as I love my own family. It’s as if they came alive in my imagination at the age of 50 but they had always been there, dormant, waiting for me to recognize them. I hope you’ve had a chance to read the second book in the series, THE SECRET KEEPER OF JAIPUR. I am currently writing the third book in the trilogy in Paris! Because it takes place both in Paris and in India. Can’t wait to share that one with you and the world. Thanks so much for your lovely comment :-)

Monterey? My Grandmother grew up in the Cachagua in the Carmel Valley. Stories of living on the farm, protecting her little brother from a mountain lion then building a home in 1931 on Colton St. She was very active in society, the women's club and played bridge like a master. She even met and danced with John Steinbeck. After she passed, my parents lived in that house for years. Good memories!

Hello Alka, I am so excited to have found your novels. I started with "The Henna Artist" and loved it so much that I read your next novel chronologically, "The Perfumist of Paris". Your writing is magical. It draws the reader into the story and I totally forget where I am when I'm reading your novels.
