Additionally, I don't see why a thirteen-year-old would want to read this book about a doctoral student when there already is a wealth of well-written romance in YA literature. The subject matter of this book is more geared toward adults—the male lead is in his mid-thirties if I remember correctly. I don't think I would have related to the female lead in this book until I was at least seventeen or eighteen years old, if at that. I would personally steer a thirteen-year-old toward books with teenage main characters.(less)
