I am reading Ancillary Justice a second time now, only 4 months after having first read it, something I have never done before since I started reading with Heinlein's Red Planet in the 1960s. AJ is Marvellous and even better on second reading. Thank you for sharing your gift with us, Ms Leckie. My question: When you first conceived AJ, did you envision a trilogy? When did you realise it would be?

I knew pretty much immediately that it would be a trilogy--I'm not sure why, probably because there are so many trilogies in SF & F. But I also had no idea if I'd ever actually be able to write it as a trilogy, so I wrote the first book to stand alone as much as possible.

I love the story so much - also a little in love with Breq. I'm so grateful to you for creating this works for my brain to play in. What was the hardest part of the writing process for you?.
