Jazz asked Josh Lanyon:

I've been a fan for a long time (since the good ole days of your LiveJournal blog - that was the absolute best) and so I read the first two books in the Holmes & Moriarity series very close to publication. But I somehow missed that you continued the series several years later. Now I'm not sure where to restart. Is re-reading the first book enough of a refresh or do I need to re-read #1 and #2 before starting on #3?

Josh Lanyon So *I* need to re-read a series before I can write the next installment, but I don't think you would need to, especially not the first two books in the H&M series. In the third book, a thread opens that continues to the next book, but in the previous books, I think the only real thread is the relationship arc, and that's probably easy enough to follow.

But honestly, other readers probably have a better idea as to whether that's true! :-D
