I am reading The Warsaw Orphan and The Things We Cannot Say at the same time, and the timeline really does not add up for me: How is Emilia 7 years old, when the bombings start in September of 1939 in The Things... and in The Warsaw Orphan set in 1942, Emilia/Elzbieta is 14??!

She may not have planned her age from the very beginning to the end. (less)
