I am about halfway through the book on audio, but I feel really bothered about the small section she includes about Bill Cosby, maybe 1/4 of the way in. She just mentions he was nice to her and she liked his wife, but nothing is said about all his sexual abuse. Does she ever bring him up again? I don't like the positive portrayal of him and I wonder if anyone else noticed this.

The book isn’t about Bill Cosby !! It’s about her life !! So hence her experience with him .. So why would she talk about something she knows nothing first hand about 🤔🤔

Something to remember is that not everyone had a bad experience with him. That doesn't take away from the horrible things he did, but her experience was valid. She is allowed to have a positive portrayal of him because that is the version of him that she received. That is something that people don't tend to speak about when it comes to predators, overall they can be "good people", which is why when we hear about the terrible things they do, it is hard to accept. She wasn't minimizing the things he did to the other people, but that wasn't the him she knew...and that is ok.

She said, perhaps after the first mention, that he never acted inappropriately toward her. Given that she and Miles were married in Cosby's home and were treated well by him and his wife, she probably didn't want to cast any further aspersions on his already sullied character. Especially when she couldn't in all honesty speak to this side of him.

She mentions him one more time with his wife around. She doesn't mention the sexual abuse. I don't think she had that experience with him.

Ms. Tyson wrote HER story and as such chose to share what SHE felt is important and relevant about her time on this earth. That intent was made very clear in the forward that she waited until she felt she had something to say. And it seems like she had to be convinced by many trusted friends and peers that it was something her public and social historians would appreciate.
I feel her OVERALL story is the most important element.
