So I get that this is fiction and sometimes you have to suspend disbelief to enjoy it, but I found it so unrealistic that Mariana is a group therapist but somehow has free rein to be on campus, actually have a room there, and act as a detective in a murder investigation. How does that happen? Did someone ask her (besides her niece) to stay and help?

And no, no one asks her to stay. All the people investigating the case (the authorities) repeatedly tell her to stop poking her nose in it. (less)
