Hello Ms. Carriger, I just wanted to let you know that I am really enjoying your series. It gets better with each book. I am always interested in why authors decide to write, so that brings me to my question(s). What made you decide to write this specific story (a young adult sci-fi with a fantastic amount of female representation) and then expand it into a series? I hope you have a lovely day! Grace Teddy

I adore young adult literature. Since a librarian passed me Alanna by Tamora Pierce I've been hooked. To this day it's my favorite genre to read. There's something breezy and tidy about the best YA novels. I find them comfortably immersive and I can finish one in a single afternoon. I gravitate to stories with powerful female main characters and I knew this would make a great series. It was pitched as 4 books and I've really enjoyed tailoring a story arc from the get go!

Just finished Competence last night, and can hardly wait to see what becomes of... well, I won't spoil it for those who haven't gotten there yet. I wanted to say that I loved how Prim /described/ the food items she purchased, rather than naming them. It was fun seeing how many I could identify by description. The only one I couldn't was the purple one, which she said she liked best. Was that one Passion Fruit?

Hi Ms. Carriger. I'm almost halfway through Changeless and read Alexia's first encounter with M. Lefoux. I noticed there's this question about her being bisexual and I got curious whether her attraction can be considered being unfaithful to Conall Maccon? Oh dear, I've already asked so many questions. I just fell in love with this series so, so hard and I want to understand every dimension of it. ^^
