I have several books on my bedside table, and I switch between them depending on the mood and level of concentration I have. Somebooks need more focus, especially nonfiction with many names, dates and places to keep track of. Currently I have: Jerusalem, The Biography -Simon Sebag Montefiore; Istanbul -Orhan Pamuk (I'm re-reading this one); The Babunama; The Histories- Herodotus. Some food books: Salt Fat Acid Head -Samin Nosrat; Bene Appetit: The Cuisine of Indian Jews- Esther David. For some light relief between these heavy tomes - The Village School - Miss Read
