Sujata Shukla Rajan I have a couple of books I'm mulling over. Putting down the concept, thinking of the structure, checking out similar content already available and the possible interest it may have for readers.
Sujata Shukla Rajan One of the nicest aspects is to have an avenue to express myself and reach out my thoughts to people outside my immediate circle.
Sujata Shukla Rajan I sometimes have starting trouble, getting stuck at the beginning of a chapter. Once I've got past that, I don't usually have a problem. One trick I've learnt is to forget the beginning and start getting into the nitty gritty of the chapter, and then come back and write the opening paragraphs. Having an outline for each chapter also helps.
Sujata Shukla Rajan I have several books on my bedside table, and I switch between them depending on the mood and level of concentration I have. Somebooks need more focus, especially nonfiction with many names, dates and places to keep track of. Currently I have: Jerusalem, The Biography -Simon Sebag Montefiore; Istanbul -Orhan Pamuk (I'm re-reading this one); The Babunama; The Histories- Herodotus. Some food books: Salt Fat Acid Head -Samin Nosrat; Bene Appetit: The Cuisine of Indian Jews- Esther David. For some light relief between these heavy tomes - The Village School - Miss Read
