(I just wanted to pop in here as a reminder in conversations around this book: we must remember that these are not simply characters existing for the sake of the story, but real human beings with complexities and varying levels of information they are willing to share with the public. Therefore, it is not always appropriate to discuss it/them in the same way you would a fictional novel).

Wow this question and some of the responses. She is HUMAN. There are no rules in life and love… humans and love and life are complex and abstract.

She and Jon Batiste are married and only Suleika and Jon and Seamus know the details of their relationships. Try and respect that.

It took a while for me to even warm up to Suleika. I don’t think she mentioned having changed Will’s name but from what I gather it is indeed Seamus McKiernan as other readers already stated. What an immense amount of pressure on a relationship and a person. I am glad she did him justice in the book and I agree with others too that Suleika is apparently unable to be alone.
I agree with you she did immediately switch to Jon. Her travels and thoughts about ending it tried to show some growing up. And Jon was very patient with her. Now that she has had cancer return and is in hospital for a second bone marrow transplant (her brother again?) we’ll see how that turns out.
I don’t think she really grew up to be her own person. Despite losing so many friends to cancer. She still comes across as utterly dependent on being in a relationship which always makes me feel a little queasy, uneasy and sorry for them.

She changed his name in the book but she did say she heard he had a girlfriend and had moved on which is why she wanted too also. I hope he is happy too. She didn't really go with Jon right away, he was patient, she wanted to be alone. I love seeing pics of them together on Instagram and FB at the Oscars, with Stephen Colbert, etc.
