Goodreads asked Jenny Noble Anderson:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jenny Noble Anderson In 2019, I was paired with artist Emma Greenhill for a collaborative art show about birds. Together, we paired 4 poems and 4 paintings and had the opportunity to engage with the community through an artist/writer talk. The response was so positive and our pieces married so beautifully that we felt a book project was meant to be!

Birds (and more broadly the concept of flight) became a thread through our collection as did the theme of beauty born from brokenness. Emma's work draws heavily on her experiences as a cancer survivor while much of my work centers on my sobriety journey. While our stories are deeply personal, the complexities of the female experience and our focus on overcoming adversity resonate for many.
