It also hops around a bunch, in time and amongst the characters. So you must pay close attention. Regardless it is a beautiful story about love, time and lives intertwining due to fate.
The movie mushes a bunch of the characters together and leaves out quite a bit (pay attention and you will see Easter eggs thrown in that only the reader will catch). Though I have to say the movie captures the essence of the book and gives you a very shortened version. It focuses very closely on Peter Lake's story and his fate with the Penn's and the Gamelys. I highly suggest reading the book first and then watching the movie. Don't wait too long in-between unless your memory is amazing. (less)
