Laurie No, difficult style but also one of the main themes is mortality and passage of time. High school students could understand these but it's more appropriate for people who have more lived experience. So many books to choose from, I wouldn't choose this one. If you have strong students and you want to teach them to read modernist novels, I'd consider Portrait of an Artist or Heart of Darkness. Easier for them to relate to the themes, I think.
