I'm not sure there is such a thing as inspiration. You just work on an idea until it develops. There's that Woody Allen quote (at least I think it was him) that getting something done is 10% inspiration 90% perspiration.

Do you think that your mother's books will ever be developed for the screen? I always thought that the "A Catch of Consequence" trilogy would be a fantastic period drama if done well. It's full of drama, humour and great characters. Who would you love to see as Makepeace?
