You amaze me with the stories you write. How do you find them? For instance, how did you discover the story behind The Ride of Her Life?
Elizabeth Letts
Thank you for asking! Because I'm interested in the horse-human bond, I have a file of interesting stories about horses and people from the past. I came across Annie's story for the first time about ten years ago-- but I got a little bit of pushback when I first suggested telling her story. She's an older woman-- not too rich, not too healthy, not much money. Nothing special about her except that she wasn't ready to be written off by the world. You hear about older women actors having trouble finding roles, and in truth, it's the same for women in books-- you might read about movie stars, spies, the mistresses of Presidents... but when's the last time you read a book about an ordinary woman who just refuses to be taken for granted? That's why I was so delighted to be able to introduce this indomitable woman to the world.

I just finished "The Ride of Her Life". Thanks so much for writing this story. the story was amazing. I have read all 3 of your horse books and each one is awesome. You bring the life of amazing people to light. I got to meet Harry De Layer a few yrs ago at a horse show and he signed my copy of your book "80 Dollar Champion". it was so fun putting a face to your great book. Are you working on any new horse stories?

Dearest Elizabeth, my name is Cynthia. I have always adored The Wizard of Oz,and was very excited when I accidently saw your book at a local store in the discounted section, but it was there sitting on top as if it were meant especially for me. I have began reading your book,I am beginning the 2nd chapter ,I had to know if these things i was reading were true facts. Can you tell me which parts im reading are factual?

Hello Elizabeth! My school library just received a copy of The Eighty-Dollar Champion (young readers edition) from JLG. It looks fantastic! My question is whether this book is fiction or nonfiction? I'm seeing it classified both ways online and I don't want to confuse students. Thank you so much!
