I will answer this in the context of non-fiction since that is what is my experience. Make the time and dedicate it to writing because everything else will get in the way. Set goals and deadlines for yourself so that you can complete your labour of love. But most of all, just write. Write hot and then edit. But get your thoughts down as those gems will form the basis of your book.
