I took it as her father she was referring to. Not Matt

It TOTALLY confused me too. Especially since the last chapter was "One Year Later" where Neena is working in a shop and Matt is going to try to be with her again, YET the prologue takes place FOUR months before Neena and Cat meet. So when exactly did THAT scene (the NOW) take place? Head scratcher for sure.
