Good grief, no!

I have an 8th grade daughter and I would not want her to read thus book. It's adult content, dark at times, and disturbing. I much rather a few f-bombs and some steamy scenes. This is the stuff of nightmares.
Dorothy Stabler
I am a senior and it was almost too much for me! There was every sort of violence and cruelty in this book. This is the last of this author's books I will be reading.
Erin
There is child abuse (and implied child sexual abuse) at the beginning of the book. There are also several affairs discussed. Probably not appropriate for middle grade.
Jordin Taylor
I feel like it can be appropriate for young kids who can handle it. If you know they are mature enough to handle that type of literature why stop them? I read romance books and murder mystery all the time. While some people may think it's "inppropiate" for middle schoolers, you have to introduce them to many disturbing topics anyway so why not start at grade 7-9
Carrie B
No. I DNF'd after 3% because of the descriptions of children being tortured. I can't imagine an adult reading this kind of disturbing material, much less a middle schooler.
Susan
There is a lot of foul language in this book that was totally unnecessary and offensive. It is not appropriate for middle or high schooler.
Abbie
If you are looking for thrillers appropriate for middle school and high school, I would recommend April Henry. Her books are suspenseful and very popular with my students.

Absolutely not.

NOooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTH???????
Bethany
I'd say definitely not! There's a pretty descriptive visit to the ob/gyn and also several different descriptions of abuse. I wouldn't let a middle schooler read this one.
Susan
I am not sure if it's appropriate for anyone. I will say the first chapter is creepy as hell, but the rest of the book is nothing like that.
Sherri Brauss
no...adult read
Audiothing
no for all other reasons given. It is also too long, too wordy and not the best example of a mystery
I suggest reading it yourself

This is definitely not for young people. Too many things to scare them at that age. Lots of scenes that are just not fit for young minds.
Randy J
It depends on the child. I was reading adult novels like Stephen King at Dean Koontz when I was 12. But, I had a rough start to life in a hard environment and had been reading constantly since I learned how. There isnt a black and white answer here.
Ashlee
I would say absolutely NOT
Josephine Briggs
Not really. This book is so sad, more like a book for adults. There is so much going on, so much abuse of young people and others, alcohol abuse, adultery, characters in different marriages.
