Debra asked:

I’m only 50 pages in but find the writing quite stilted. I’m constantly having to reread. The reviews are excellent and the synopsis drew me to this book but am struggling with it. Does the writing improve?

Michelle No, you'll keep on rereading. Maybe you'll get used to it as you go but I did not. I swear I never understood the setting either. So many times I had to force myself to remember it's west coast, not east. The reveal wasn't worth it for me. I kept on because it was so highly rated.
Tawnee Calhoun I found the writing more stilted in the beginning, but you get used to it as you go on. The story is well worth it though so I would keep reading!
Jackie I thought the same thing at first! I was having a hard time getting into it. But, it gets SO much better. The characters are very well developed, and there are twists that (to me) are VERY unpredictable. I ended up loving it! I say continue!
Marsha I thought the same thing. Stilted and often uses incorrect syntax. Don’t find it worth it so far. 100 pages in
Alexander It was a hard read (even in Swedish). If I hadnt got the times on my hands, I would not bother.
Marsha YES! lots of characters, but totally worth staying with!! So many lives and each person has a connection to the ending.
Phil I agree that it is not always clear who is talking/ speaking. But hang in there the story is worth the few times you have to stop and determine who is speaking.
C. Wilson Do stick with it, it's a beautiful story, very moving. The stilted style is deliberate I think - just take it with you, it'll carry your emotions to another plane.
