Top Retellings of Classic Tales

Is this book series (king of scars + rule of wolves) paranormal, or just fiction/fantasy? And is the main story line about fighting or is there more than that? Not sure if that makes sense lol. Please help as I've herd so much hype about it but I really don't know if this is my style of book.... I would say *adventure* sums up my preference...
