Is anyone else disappointed that Bran seems to now be in love with Leah? It was always implied in previous books that though he'd mated her, he didn't love her as he still loved his first mate, Charles mother. Bran isn't without fault, and tho…moreI completely agree with @Christina Wilcott --- I think it's a type of love, born from respect and likely some guilt. Bran isn't without fault, and though I'm not the biggest fan of Leah (Mercy is my girl and I want to throw hands at anyone who is mean to her, lol), but other than being guarded towards him (for good reason), I feel like Bran's treatment of her is a big reason why she is the way she is. That doesn't excuse her behavior of course, but it is important to note. I think that while Bran isn't IN LOVE with Leah in the way Charles+Anna/Mercy+Adam are, she does fulfill the role of the Marrok's mate, i.e. loyalty, and what she did at the end of Wild Sign. She's what he needs and what he doesn't need is a great love. He's had that and we know what happened when he lost that. Now he (and the pack) need someone strong. I think Leah has always felt that since he wasn't IN LOVE with her, he didn't care for her at all -- very black and white thinking -- but emotions are complicated. I think if she had known that he doesn't hate her and feels respect towards her from the jump, she maybe wouldn't have been so horrible. I mean, it's sad that she loves him in a way that he doesn't love her, but she let that eat her up, so much so that she hates his own children. How can someone truly love someone who hates their own flesh and blood. It's honestly a bit of a mess, and Leah is not the only one at fault here. I think the best outcome would be similar to present day arranged marriages that are successful and come from a place of respect and high regard. (less)
