Locking your daughter in a tower is an unfortunately common practice in fairy tales! I made up the Nine Daughters, but it's sort of like about a dozen old stories!
Rusaka is indeed Russia, Analousia is France, Ionia is Europe, Westfalin is Germany, Breton is the UK! And the Danelaw is Denmark. And I can't remember the others, because it's been 1,000 years since I wrote those books! :)
