Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jeremy McLean I was playing a video game about pirates, and they mentioned that they were looking for a "treasure ship," which, in the context of the game, meant they were looking for a ship full of treasure. However, it made me think of the ship actually being the treasure, and how it would be interesting if there was a story where they followed clues to find a ship.

The idea developed from there into what it is today. The plot being that there are certain parts of the ship locked, and the characters have to follow clues and solve puzzles in order to find the keys to unlock them.

I also love pirates, and Blackbeard is my favourite, so I wanted to create a sort of origin story for him in a fictional setting. This series is meant to show how he goes from being a normal person to the scourge of the seas we know him as today.
