Goodreads asked Elyse M. Fitzpatrick:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Elyse M. Fitzpatrick Because I write non-fiction, I rarely deal with writer's block. On the days when I do, however, my process is something I call, "Throwing garbage on the screen." What that means is that I basically churn out what will be pages and pages of stuff that I know I won't use but will enable me to begin to write in earnest as I edit through it.
I never spend time worrying about the "exact" word to least not on the first pass-through.
