I liked the movie, should I read the book? I heard it's darker and less romantic. Is this true?

The book definitely had some extra jarring moments, leaving you to wonder how far it would trend from the movie. I think it was better for me to see the movie first, then read the book. I'd recommend the book if you have not read it!
There were parts of the movie I'd have liked to see mirror or flesh out a bit more in the book, but overall enjoyment was had on both fronts.(less)
