Agree, I find Sara Linton unbelievable and prissy, holier-than-everyone. Lena, OTOH, is more relatable, and often, more likable. No one can out-do Saint Sarah. She's gorgeous, she's a doctor, she's a runner, and she completely subsumes herself in whoever her current man is. She sounds like a fantasy character--but wholly and completely annoying.

I think the beauty of these novels is that each character is heavily flawed but also has people who care about them and love them for who they are. Many people hate Sara cuz she's a know-it-all but her family/jeffrey/will like her. Everyone hates Lena but not Jared. So they're a lot more 3-D than most other books/characters so I'm not surprised some people like/hate certain characters in different ways.
