Actually, I was shooting for wet macular degeneration, but Leber hereditary optic neuropathy might actually fit what I've described in the book even better. Which caused some issues, because I wasn't supposed to be reading and was supposed to be doing homework, but I guess my family thought I was being emotional over calculus.
