(view spoiler)[Hi! Like others, I just felt the need to let you know I cried- in the gym- having to explain that the spin workout was not actually "too hard" but that a Demi-God, in a book who might or might not be immortal was maybe dead- did not up my Gym cred one bit, but may have gained you a few big weight lifting gym-guy readers, LOL. Looking forward to Twyla and Frank!? (hide spoiler)]

Ha! I kind of feel bad about the number of times I have made people cry at the gym or on public transportation. If it makes you feel better, I just about gave myself a hernia listening (and laughing) to Nikki Payne's Pride and Protest while trying to work out at the gym. (GREAT book, by the way.) Anyway, thank you for reading The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy. I've been telling people that The Undermining of Twyla and Frank is not a crying book, but then I read through the whole manuscript recently and, well, cried. So I'll just go ahead and apologize for any future tears now. Thanks so much, Holly!

I'm so glad you enjoyed The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy, Ariel -- thank you for reading it! As for your questions, I'm afraid that I'm not at liberty to discuss any projects I am currently working on, but I'm hoping to be able to share some exciting book news soon ...
Oh my gosh, I haven't seen Sleepless in Seattle in a million years, but I loved it.
Thank you so much for your questions!

Well, this is a fun question! I'm leaning toward The Story of Yanxi Palace, but as far as recommending any TV show ever from anywhere in the world, I'm evangelical about Nirvana in Fire, 1 & 2 (Critically speaking, the first series is better, but my heart belongs to the second, and I can't seem to convince anyone to watch it.) (That and The Derry Girls.)

Actually, I was shooting for wet macular degeneration, but Leber hereditary optic neuropathy might actually fit what I've described in the book even better. Thank you for making me a little more knowledgeable than when I woke up this morning! Also, my apologies--may you know happiness again someday. Thanks so much for reading The Bird and the Blade!

Salut, Dorra, et merci de lire L'Oiseau et la lame. (Ok, malheureusement, je ne suis pas courante en français. Désolée!) My second book, Soulswift, is a young adult fantasy about a girl who becomes the vessel of a spirit that is either a goddess who will save the world or a demon who will end it. She has to decide which religious belief--if either--is correct. And yes, there is a love story in it. I think it's going to be translated into French, but it may be a while as the book only released in the US in November. I hope to have more book news to share in the near future. Thank you again for reading The Bird and the Blade!

Hello! I hope you are also safe and healthy. Whew, what a year. I'm afraid that I did not cry when I wrote the Bird and the Blade, and I didn't cry when I wrote Soulswift either, although I got a little choked up during a couple of drafts. I did, however, cry while working on my current book, but it's also the only book I have ever written during a global pandemic, so that may have affected my mood a bit. Different things have inspired each book I've written. The Bird and the Blade was a retelling of a French fairy tale, but told from a secondary character's point of view. I wrote Soulswift because I wanted to write something that had the same emotional tone as Ralph Vaughn Williams's "The Lark Ascending." The book I'm working on now was inspired by a photograph I found on Pinterest. Thanks so much for the questions, and happy holidays!

Apologies for the late reply, Karla! I only just saw your question. I'm so glad you liked The Bird and the Blade, and thank you for taking the time to let me know. Your kind words are very much appreciated. As for more books to come, I can tell you that I'm working on several different projects at the moment, but I don't have any specific release dates to share as of yet. The best answer I can give you is "Hopefully soon." I'm really looking forward to the day I can give you a better response than that. Thanks so much for dropping me a line! ~Megan

Thank you for reading THE BIRD AND THE BLADE! I'm glad you liked the book and I'm sorry it made you cry (except I'm also not in the least bit sorry *evil laugh*). I'm afraid I don't have any plans at this time to continue Jinghua and Khalaf's story, but I do solemnly vow to write more books with soul-crushing endings.
Thanks so much for your question! ~Megan

Lauren, what a lovely message! Thank you so, so much for reading the book. I'm glad you liked it, even if it made you cry. (Calculus would probably make ME cry.) Wishing you a wonderful summer filled with fantastic books. ~Megan
