You have a lot of practical knowledge about horses (Fat Ninny is my favorite, followed by the one that threw Caz), I rode one once when I was 11. I was wondering if it would be practical or even possible to tie, say spears (for transport, not accessibility), underneath stirrups. My research searches gave me the fact that tie-downs are not places to tie things down, but no answer. Aim high, can't shoot my foot. Help?

I rode horses quite a bit in my youth, but never tried to transport baggage or weapons while doing so. Military history from the Middle Ages or antiquity or, for that matter, 19th C. cavalry might help. All the pictures one sees show the rider holding the spear or lance upright, often anchored on the stirrup, which seems to me would tie up a hand; might be OK for immediate deployment, but I don't think it would do for distance travel. Swords did have saddle-mounted scabbards.

Dear Mrs. Lois, I would like to build a subscription based online video platform where book authors can share short educational videos and engage in private conversations with their readers/fans. Would you be so kind to respond to my market research study in order to validare or invalidate my idea? If you agree, please let me know so I can send you the link. Thank you !

Hi. As so many I am very grateful for your books. Cordelia was something of a role model for me. Her pragmatism about government, about God, about life, and about parenting helped shape the way I view many of those things. I believe I am a better mother, a better social worker and even a better government employee because of how you wrote her. I hope there are more Vorkosigan/Barrayar stories to come?

Although Miles' romances are always with women significantly taller than he is (in part because nearly everybody is) I've noticed the cover art always finds a way to avoid showing a short man with a tall woman. Either we see people head to head or a secondary character with his girl instead of Miles, etc. How do you feel about this phenomenon?
