A Goodreads user
asked:
Hey folks, this book isn't out yet! Why is Goodreads publishing all these reviews from people who aren't paying attention -- who are actually trying to review the first book in the series, not the second??

Seems like maybe you're the one not paying attention, or perhaps not reading the reviews? I looked at the reviews, and they were definitely for this second book, not the first. I didn't read the full reviews, because I know I want to read this, and I'd rather not know anything going in, but it was obvious they were for the 2nd book.
Leigh
Because some of us get an advance copy from publishers, etc, and write reviews before the publishing date.
Laura
I am a librarian and got an advance copy to review from Netgalley. They don't require you to only give positive reviews. The second book is even better than the first in my opinion so I think all these five-star reviews are genuine.

When you see annoying stuff like this, it is usually people that have somehow gotten an advanced reading copy from the publisher. Publisher hand out early copies to get people to review them and whip us into a frenzy to get our hands on it when it finally gets released!
Amanda
Publishers give out copies of books set to publish later in the year to people in the business, reviewers, librarians, library staff, purchasers. Lots of people have access and write honest reviews.
Natalie Farr
Netgalley is a site to apply and have the chance to read advance copies of books. I received an early copy of this book via them.
Jennsie
People who work for the publisher and those who are on platforms that offer advanced copies have read the book.

I have just started this ! I agree it is not published yet. However I have a ARC which is a 'Advance Reader Copy' This is where people read the book ahead of publication so reviews can be published so that readers can see them ahead of deciding if they want to buy it or not

Also I am sure its published in England and India. US is often late. I have to sometimes get it shipped from a different country when I am in a fever to get to the next book

There are several sites anyone can join to say what type of books you like and request e copies of books before they are published. You are only asked to give an honest review and maybe put the same review on Amazon, Waterstones etc when they are actually published. There is no need to only give excellent reviews, just honest reviews are asked for. I use Netgalley and you don’t get every book you request, but still have had advanced free copies of many great books. This one by Richard is one of the best!

People get ARCs all the time! I'm not sure how exactly people do it, but I know there are how-to's online.

Because too many people like to mess up the ratings before the book is released and before they've read it. This is nothing to do with ARC copies. This has to do with people screwing things up without caring about those of us who want actual stars and/or reviews. We don't want these bogus ratings/reviews. We want real ratings/review from only those who have read or tried to read the book.
Giuseppe Ruotolo
This is people who get it free from the publishers for an "honest review". Basically you give it a bad review you can forget next time.
Look at the reviews. Every one of them has got a thank you publisher at the end and no 1*.

It is a bit odd isn't it! They all sound like Bots. lol.

it depends the country as well, books can be released in some before others.
