Goodreads asked Gayle A. Pritchard:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Gayle A. Pritchard I was giving a lecture about Ohio art quilts at the Ohio Historical Society, so I had done a lot of research in preparation. I was curating The Artist as Quiltmaker exhibition at the time, as well, a long-standing biennial art quilt exhibition, and had access to the entry forms and images going back to 1980. A representative from Ohio University Press was in attendance, and approached my mentor, the late Ricky Clark, about creating a series of books about Ohio quilts. I was selected to write about the art quilt movement in Ohio.
